Our Story...

My name is Paula Mathieu and my husband Russ, and I own Little Tykes Learning Center. Our journey started in the year 2000. We had two children and both worked full time. I searched for a childcare center where I felt that my children would be safe and well-cared for. After a year of crying most days when I dropped my kids off, I decided that I wanted to open my own center. I was in banking and had NO knowledge of what was involved with owning a business, and my experience with children was limited to volunteering at my church to help with Sunday School and having my own children. But I felt like this was my calling, so I cashed in my 401K and leased the building on Valleywood Lane in 2001. Very quickly I realized how much I LOVED owning a center and spending my days working with children. We decided I needed my own building, so we built our location on E Centre. Then, in 2019 we decided to re-lease the space on Valleywood Lane because our waiting list was so long and there is such a need for quality childcare centers.

My goal is to be a home away from home for every child, and for parents to feel that they can leave their children in our care and know they are safe, loved, learning lots, and having fun! Thank you for taking the time to read my story! We hope to welcome you to the Little Tykes family!
